Episode #46: Army Veteran Kevin Ryan Founder of Service Brewing Talks Starting Your Own Brewery

Ep 46 Kevin Ryan

Ep 46 Kevin Ryan

Kevin’s love for craft beer dates back to his first-ever Fat Tire Ale consumed in 1995, though his loyalty to his country began much earlier. After graduating from West Point in 1996 with a degree in Engineering Management, he spent the next eight years leading and training soldiers in Alaska and Colorado. He commanded two companies in Iraq and left the Army for civilian life in 2004. An unlikely move, he jumped immediately into the position of CIO in a Health Care Management company and deeply values the lessons gained in the eight years of developing management products and building client relationships. In 2012, his girlfriend bought him a home brewing kit. He began tinkering with it immediately, fascinated by both the process and the product. A series of fortuitous coincidences led him to Master Brewer and Army veteran Dan Sartin, and the two fine-tuned a plan for a brewery called Service Brewing, inspired by their own military service and to honor that of others.

We are a veteran owned and operated craft brewery, in Savannah Georgia, dedicated to honoring those that have put their lives at risk and their country and community first.

We will donate a portion of our revenues to assist charities that support Service.  We will craft authentic American made beers for the curious and experienced consumer, focus on buying local whenever possible and in the same vein support the grassroots efforts of those giving back to those that have served.  Our dedication to this cause is unique and our approach to craft beer is equally unique.  While brewing our year round beers on a large scale we maintain a small batch Research and Development division to enable experimentation and innovation using locally available ingredients to connect our farmers and consumers with our beer and our mission.
