4 Programs to Help with Your Transition from Military Service to Entrepreneurship

Transition to Entrepreneurship

In many ways, veterans are more prepared for entrepreneurship than their civilian counterparts. Core skills like leadership, discipline, and perseverance are all engrained in you throughout your military career – but you will need more to succeed in the civilian business world. Fortunately, there are several programs available to veterans and military spouses looking to make the transition into entrepreneurship.

#1: Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV)

The EBV National Program is a novel, one-of-a-kind initiative designed to leverage the skills, resources and infrastructure of higher education to offer cutting-edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans with service-connected disabilities and a passion for entrepreneurship as well as military family members who serve in a caregiver role to a veteran with a service-connected disability.

The aim of the program is to open the door to economic opportunity for our veterans and their families by developing their competencies in creating and sustaining an entrepreneurial venture.

#2: Bunker in Box Program (Bunker Labs)

Bunker in a Box was created as an extension of the Bunker Labs community. The online platform was designed to reach veterans and active duty who are not near a Bunker Labs location but wish to start and grow a business. There will be 200,000 service members coming off of active duty each year over the next five years, and 25% will want to start a business. They will need places inside their community and online to connect with the people, the resources, and the support that needed in order to start and grow a business. Bunker in a Box, as a part of Bunker Labs network, is designed to fill that space.

#4: Veteran Fast Launch Initiative Program

Every year, over 180,000 dedicated men and women exit our nation’s armed services after their loyal service to our nation. For over 45 years, SCORE has been a leader in providing mentoring and training to entrepreneurs through its network of 13,000 volunteer mentors and trainers. SCORE stands ready to answer the call of helping our veterans to transition into life as entrepreneurs.

The SCORE Foundation, in partnership with major corporations, is pleased to offer the “Veteran Fast Launch” initiative. This program is a combined package of free software and services combined with SCORE’s mentoring program in order to help accelerate the ability of veterans and their families to start and succeed as small business owners.
