Episode #51: Access Every Photo You're Spotted In Anywhere with Army Veteran Sonny Tosco Founder & CEO of LImeLight Mobile

Sonny is a 2006 graduate of the United States Military Academy with a degree in Psychology and Systems Engineering. Upon graduating he was commissioned as a 2LT in Air Defense Artillery. Sonny served active duty for 6 years, and is a 3x Operation Enduring Freedom veteran having deployed to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and UAE. In 2012, Sonny left the service as a CPT to pursue a career in the civilian sector. After being frustrated with his last job, and the early passing of a close army brother he decided to start his 5th venture Limelight.

Sonny spent 6 years on active duty serving in the US Army. After leaving the army in 2012, Sonny entered corporate America and had his first child in 2013. Five days after his son was born, one of his close Army friends passed. Heading to his funeral, his wife asked Sonny to contribute some photos for his wake, but unfortunately he didn’t have any. As close as they were, they didn’t have any pictures together. Sonny never realized the fear of missing out on the opportunity to capture those times. After being frustrated with his last job in journalism, he decided to act on this glorious accident to allow people the ability to aggregate every photo they are ever in.

Two major challenges were posed from the beginning; lack of technical background and professional network. Unperturbed, he went on a quest to build a team around him. His friend Jeff Reiss started to accompany him to meetups in Silicon Valley where we was fortunate enough to connect with John Tobin at a Jewish Community Center event. John and Sonny immediately had chemistry so they decided to move forward to build the team.

Joao, Cody, Neville, and Sam joined the team shortly thereafter providing the engineering muscle to bring the vision to fruition. After 8 months, the Limelight team is proud to release our app in February 2015.
