Confidence doesn’t happen overnight. Building a business comes with both stress and excitement.  It can also leave you feeling like a failure at some point. Wins put you on cloud nine, feeling like you are ruling the world. But when we fail, for some reason it can make you doubt why you ever chose to take that chance. Why you risked it all. It can leave you asking “Are you good enough?”   We’ve all been there as small business owners.  Confidence is something that earned through working hard, accomplishments on the choices we decide to make. It’s something that comes with success.  Seeing success in your business only continues the desire to take your small business to levels you dreamed of. It’s something that all successful entrepreneurs have and will tell you they NEEDED in order to get where they are. Here are 3 ways to help increase your confidence while building your small business.

Business Confidence Tip #1: Create Long Term Goals.

Knowing where you want to be is the only way to figure out how you’re going to get there.  Creating those long term helps you build a road map to success. Understanding the steps that you need to take in order to achieve those long term goals helps you navigate through the stages of ups and downs you may see as a small business owner. Failure isn’t your enemy in building your business. Setting big goals and having big dreams can be overwhelming without that map on how to get there. So sitting down and having that “dream board” that you hear so many successful business owners talk about AND the business plan allows you to stay focused.

Business Confidence Tip #2: Take Care of Yourself.

Having a healthy lifestyle is incredibly important as well. You know, it’s called Work-Life Balance.  Starting a business takes hours and hours away from your personal life. It can be draining if you allow it.  Prioritize your time. Know when to shut off and re-focus. Understanding what you can control and what you can’t is so important for a healthy mind.  Exercise is important. Studies have shown that exercise is not only important for your body but your mind. It improves focus, helps manage and stress.  Being anxious is so much harder to maintain if there’s not excess energy to draw from.

Business Confidence Tip #3: Do What Makes You Happy.

Have a purpose. Business confidence comes also in believing in yourself and knowing that you KNOW what you’re talking about. Choose a business venture that interests you. Something that you’re good at and what you love.  Being a business owner isn’t just another job. It’s YOUR job. It’s your life and could very well be every penny you’ve earned invested in it.

Never stop being hungry and don’t get comfortable. Meaning, continue to grow. Continue to meet new people, attend conferences or join a mastermind of like-minded entrepreneurs where you’re learning new ways to improve your personal and business life. Grow as technology grows.  The world will continue to change and new trends will happen and in order to continue to see success, you and your company have to grow with it.

In your personal life, we can’t stress to be happy too. What do you LOVE to do? Do you love to be outdoors? What activities “fill your love tank” as Best-selling author Gary Chapman says. Don’t forget about those.  Make time for whatever it is in your personal life that you love.  Being your best self consists of living life the best way you know how to.  Don’t focus on the white noise of what everyone thinks.

We hope this helps in your growth and feel free to listen to our Podcasts to find other topics that may help you grow!
