As a machine gunner who saw four deployments during the Global War on Terror, Josh’s transition to civilian life didn’t follow his planned path of becoming a military contractor. Inspired by a passion for reading, he honed his skills as a freelance writer for Funker 530 and leveraged his veteran network to navigate new opportunities. Today, he is the Director of Digital Marketing for Hard Head Veterans, a veteran-owned and operated manufacturer of top-quality, affordable ballistic helmets and protective headgear.

Josh Brooks, a Northern Michigan native and former U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Machine Gunner with four deployments supporting the Global War on Terror, is the Director of Digital Marketing at Hard Head Veterans in Sweetwater, Texas. He transitioned from the military in 2014 to start a career in freelance writing and was hired by Hard Head Veterans in 2021 after doing freelance work for the company for several years.
