We Are the Mighty with Air Force Veteran Mark Harper

Air Force Veteran Mark Harper is the EVP of Operations and Strategy at We Are The Mighty, a military media brand. While in the military, he led worldwide combat documentation teams.

The Cohen Veterans Network, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization, was created to serve them by providing high-quality, accessible, and integrated mental health care.

He earned his MBA from UCLA Anderson and held marketing and business development positions at Paramount Pictures, Technicolor, and was a co-founder of Audeze, a $20M headphone company.

Mark spent the latter half of his career deploying videographers and photographers. They would document military exercises taking place in different parts of the world.

The team would station themselves in specific locations within the area and capture breathtaking moments in action. These would then be shared through the television and other media.

Into Content Creation

Transition was daunting for Mark. His passion in creating content seemed to have no direct path. He was unsure where and how to take it in the civilian life.

“You have to do a lot of homework to figure out what it is that you want to do, so that when you get those opportunities to be able to ask someone for help, you have a very specific ask.” – Mark Harper

It was not until he returned to the base. He received word of a voluntary separation program for communication officers. He signed up and pursued the life he once only dreamed of.  

Veterans in Media & Entertainment

Today, an organization is making it more convenient for veterans to find a job in the film and television industry. It is called Veterans in Media & Entertainment. Through various programs, members of the community are able to unite and collaborate on meaningful projects.
