Robert Pizzini – iFly Skydiving Va Beach | Ep. 212

Robert Pizzini used his 26 years of experience in the Navy to start an indoor skydiving business. He is the Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of iFLY Va Beach Indoor Skydiving. He began to develop iFLY Va Beach Indoor Skydiving in 2010, bringing this technologically advanced experience to Virginia Beach in 2015.

“A high degree of physical fitness fuels a high degree of mental activity and capacity.”  – Robert Pizzini

Transitioning into Retirement

During his tour in Iraq, Robert decided it was time to move on to other things in 2010. Ironically some of his friends he had served with for over 20 years were getting out at the same time. They began with the idea of starting a consulting company called R3. The firm was in the special operations trade space. Specifically the in the area of all things explosive and EOD.

They focused on the white collar aspect of man, train equip, fund, etc. That really appealed to Robert. It was what he had been doing the later part of his career. It was a collective group of guys that had been around a long time. They all thought this had been missing during their careers and felt there were some real high-end opportunities to be had.

Training Troops Provides Idea for iFly

Robert spent a lot of time jumping out of airplanes. On his last tour, he was a training officer at EOD training unit 2 at Fort Story. He was the combat support officer responsible for all the advanced diver training and advanced airborne training for forces getting ready to deploy. In his airborne role, he would secure vertical wind tunnels for the troops to train in. Attending training and seeing the full business model play out, it was clear to him that Va Beach was a good location for this.
